A Professor in the Department of Theatre Arts at UNIBEN, Prof. Ugolo (now retired) is a leading authority on National Dance Culture. His research is vital in a multicultural nation of over 370 ethnic groups, where he explores how dance serves as a bridge for national unity and development. Prof. Ugolo is renowned for his pioneering work in Peace-building Choreography. His influential publications, such as Journey Towards a Nigerian National Dance Culture (2023) and The Choreographic Traditions of Nigeria and Peace Building Dance (2019), highlight his belief that the rhythm of dance can foster social harmony.
As a practitioner, his work on "Unity Dances" and iconic pieces like "Pipes War" have shaped modern Nigerian dance. He continues to share his expertise globally through platforms like the Dancing in the World podcast, exploring cultural confluences across the globe.
