    Urhobo College was established in 1948 by the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) as part of the broader vision to advance education and promote intellectual development within Urhobo land and beyond.

    The founding Principal of Urhobo College was M. G. Ejaife (1912–1972), the first university graduate of Urhobo origin. He served as Principal from 1948 to 1966 and later became Urhobo’s first Senator during Nigeria’s First Republic.
